Characteristics of MEMS Heat Sink Using Serpentine Microchannel for Thermal Management of Concentrated Photovoltaic Cells

This work explains the simulation-based study to understand thermohydraulic characteristics (thermal resistance and pumping power) of a MEMS heat sink using serpentine microchannels employed for thermal management concentrated photovoltaic cells; planar dimensions both are 1 cm by cm. In this study, water is coolant constructed in silicon. Over Reynolds number varying from 50 1000 concentration ratio 20, power microchannel, comparison with that straight lower higher, respectively; benefit switching outweigh cost as up 64% reduction achieved just 126% rise power. Studies done understanding contribution geometry microchannel on sink. Irrespective geometry, leads decrease resistance, respectively. For particular number, hydraulic diameter, offset width, length led resistance. The investigated found be independent ratio. Nusselt Poiseuille numbers provided designers; these parameters higher similar microchannel.
